UMANG (Unified Mobile Application for New-age Governance) is the Government of India's single app for central and state government services. It is run by the National e-Governance Division (NeGD) under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). Instead of installing separate apps for EPFO, pension, transport or grievances, you can use one app for all of them.

As per a written reply in the Rajya Sabha in August 2026, UMANG offered 2,575 services (880 central and 1,695 state) as of 31 July 2026, had 11.66 crore registered users, and recorded about 798 crore transactions over the last three years.

How UMANG Has Grown

When it was launched in November 2017, UMANG aimed to bring 162 government services onto one app. By 31 July 2026, it had grown to 2,575 services, more than 15 times the launch figure, covering both central and state departments.

How to Download and Register on UMANG

  1. Download: Get UMANG from Google Play or the App Store. Check that the developer is shown as MeitY, Government of India. You can also give a missed call to 97183-97183 to get the download link.
  2. Choose language: Pick from the available languages.
  3. Enter mobile number: Enter your mobile number and verify with the OTP.
  4. Set MPIN: Create an MPIN to log in quickly next time.
  5. Complete profile: Add your details. You can link Aadhaar and DigiLocker for smoother access to services.
  6. Search services: Use the search bar or browse departments to find what you need.

How to Use EPFO Services on UMANG

EPFO is among the most used departments on UMANG. To use it:

  1. Open UMANG and search for EPFO.
  2. Choose the employee services section.
  3. Select the service you need, such as viewing your passbook or raising a claim.
  4. Enter your UAN and verify with the OTP sent to your UAN-registered mobile number.

Your UAN must be activated and your KYC (Aadhaar, bank account) must be linked for claim services.

2026 note: EPFO services on the Member Portal, Employer Portal and UMANG were unavailable from 26 to 29 June 2026 due to a system migration and resumed on 30 June 2026.

UMANG for Indians Living Abroad

A separate app called UMANG India is available for Indians outside the country. As per the official UMANG flipbook, it is available in countries such as the USA, UK, Canada, Netherlands, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and UAE.
