Jeevan Pramaan Face App: Overview
Every pensioner has to prove each year that he or she is alive so that the pension keeps coming without a break. The Jeevan Pramaan app, published by the National Informatics Centre (NIC), lets pensioners create an Aadhaar-based Digital Life Certificate (DLC) on a smartphone, without going to the bank. The face-scan method is now the most popular way to do this. In the last national campaign (DLC Campaign 4.0, November 2025), over 1.16 crore DLCs, or about 60% of all DLCs, were made with face authentication.
Timing matters now. Under the Department of Pension & Pensioners' Welfare (DoPPW) arrangement, pensioners aged 80 years and above get a separate window from 1 October, so they can avoid the general rush that starts on 1 November. Why the Life Certificate Is Needed
As per the UIDAI FAQ on Digital Life Certificate, every Central Government pensioner has to submit an Annual Life Certificate in November to the Pension Disbursing Agency (such as the bank) so that the pension continues without a break. Jeevan Pramaan was launched in November 2014 to remove the need to visit the bank in person.

Key Features of the App
- Create a Digital Life Certificate using Aadhaar face, fingerprint or iris authentication.
- On success, a unique Pramaan-ID is generated and sent by SMS with a download link.
- The certificate is sent automatically to the pension office. As per the official user manual, there is no need to physically submit it to the Pension Disbursing Agency.
- Face authentication works only in India (as per the Play Store listing).
- One phone can be used to make certificates for other pensioners too: an "operator" registers once and then helps pensioners.
What You Need (Eligibility and Documents)
Per the UIDAI FAQ and the official app manual, keep these ready:
- Aadhaar number of the pensioner, registered with the pension account
- Mobile number of the pensioner (for OTP)
- PPO (Pension Payment Order) number
- Pension type, sanctioning authority and disbursing agency details
- Bank account number in which pension is credited
- An Android phone with Android 9.0 or higher (not rooted), at least 500 MB free space, a good camera and internet connection
How to Use the Jeevan Pramaan Face App: Step by Step
Step 1: Install both apps
- Install AadhaarFaceRD (publisher: Unique Identification Authority of India) from the Play Store. It runs in the background and has no visible screen of its own.
- Install JeevanPramaan (publisher: National Informatics Centre). Check the publisher name before installing.
Step 2: Operator authentication (one time)
- Open the Jeevan Pramaan app and enter the operator's Aadhaar number, mobile number and email. The pensioner can be his or her own operator.
- Enter the OTPs received, give consent and complete the face scan.
Step 3: Pensioner details
- Enter the pensioner's Aadhaar number and mobile number and verify the OTP.
- Fill or confirm the PPO number, pension type, sanctioning authority, disbursing agency and bank account number.
Step 4: Face scan and certificate
- Complete the face scan. Look straight at the camera with a neutral face, in good, even light. Remove dark glasses; clear glasses are allowed.
- On success, the Digital Life Certificate is generated and the Pramaan-ID is shown and sent by SMS to the registered mobile.
- You can download the certificate from jeevanpramaan.gov.in using the Pramaan-ID.
iPhone users: the portal has a separate user manual for the iOS face app, with the same steps (install AadhaarFaceRD and the Jeevan Pramaan face app, operator authentication, then pensioner authentication).
Other Ways to Submit (If the App Does Not Work)
- Jeevan Pramaan Centres: CSCs, banks and government offices help generate the DLC with a biometric device.
- Doorstep service: India Post Payments Bank (fee Rs. 70 as per UIDAI FAQ) and the doorstep banking alliance of public sector banks (Rs. 75).

Can pensioners aged 80 or above submit the life certificate in October?
Yes. DoPPW has provided an exclusive window from 1 October onwards for pensioners aged 80 years and above, to avoid the general rush from 1 November.
Is there any fee for using the Jeevan Pramaan app?
