Eligibility
- Education: Graduation from a recognised university, plus a recognised teacher training qualification, BTC, D.El.Ed (2 years), or the 4-year B.El.Ed.
- Teacher eligibility test: You must have qualified UPTET or CTET. This is a hard requirement, not a preference.
- Age (as on 1 July 2026): 21 to 40 years for the urban Basic Education posts. For the Sambaddh (aided) primary posts the upper limit is reported as 62 years, verify this in the official advertisement, since it is unusual.
- Relaxation: SC, ST and OBC 5 years; PwBD 15 years; ex-servicemen 3 years plus the period of service rendered.
Application Fee
| Category | Fee |
|---|---|
| General / OBC / EWS | ₹1,000 |
| SC / ST | ₹500 |
| PwBD | ₹300 |
Selection Process
- Written examination, offline, OMR-based
- Document verification
- Final merit list
Exam Pattern
- 120 multiple-choice questions
- 360 marks in total
- Duration: 120 minutes
- Marking: +3 for a correct answer, −1 for a wrong answer, including where more than one option is marked
The negative marking of one full mark is severe by the standards of state teacher exams, so blind guessing is costly. With +3 and −1, a question is worth attempting only when you can eliminate at least two options confidently.
Salary
Selected candidates are placed in Pay Level 6 of the 7th CPC matrix, ₹35,400 to ₹1,12,400, along with dearness allowance, house rent allowance and other admissible benefits.

Points to Remember

- With −1 negative marking, exam strategy is different from CTET, which has no negative marking. Practise accordingly.
