SIR Phase 3: Check Whether Your Name Is on the Draft Roll
The Election Commission of India's Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls is in Phase 3, covering 19 states and union territories and about 36.73 crore electors. Draft rolls have been published, and the claims and objections windows are closing now, with final rolls due in October and November 2026.
Unlike an ordinary annual revision, SIR is a house-to-house re-verification of every elector. Names that are not matched during enumeration can be left out of the draft roll, which makes the claims and objections window the practical safeguard for voters.

Key Dates (Revised)
The ECI has revised state schedules more than once on requests from Chief Electoral Officers. Two examples:
Karnataka
| Stage | Date |
|---|---|
| Enumeration | 30 June to 17 August 2026 |
| Draft roll published | 24 August 2026 |
| Claims and objections | 24 August to 23 September 2026 |
| Disposal of claims | Up to 22 October 2026 |
| Final roll | 27 October 2026 |
Maharashtra
| Stage | Date |
|---|---|
| Draft roll published | 31 August 2026 |
| Claims and objections | 31 August to 30 September 2026 |
| Notice and disposal | Through 29 October 2026 |
| Final roll | 4 November 2026 |
Delhi, Telangana and Punjab had earlier revised schedules with draft rolls in August and final rolls in October 2026.
Because these schedules have been revised repeatedly, check your own state CEO website for the current dates. For Maharashtra in particular, two different schedules are in circulation, the later revision above is the more likely one, but confirm it on ceo.maharashtra.gov.in.
Why This Matters
In Phase 1 (Bihar), 47 lakh names, 5.95% of electors, were deleted. In Phase 2, covering 12 states and UTs, 5.18 crore names, or 10.2%, were removed.
Deletions happen for legitimate reasons, death, duplicate entries, permanent shifting, but a genuine voter whose enumeration was missed can also drop off. The only way to know is to check the draft roll yourself.
How to Check and Fix Your Entry
Step 1, Check the draft roll
Search for your name on your state CEO website, on voters.eci.gov.in, or in the Voter Helpline app, using your EPIC number or your name.
Step 2, File the right form
| Situation | Form |
|---|---|
| Your name is missing and you want it included | Form 6 |
| You want to object to a wrong or ineligible entry | Form 7 |
| You need a correction in an existing entry | Form 8 |
File online at voters.eci.gov.in, or on paper with your Booth Level Officer (BLO) or Electoral Registration Officer (ERO).
Step 3, Attend the hearing if the ERO issues a notice on your claim or objection.
Step 4, Re-check the final roll when it is published. Do not assume your claim was accepted.

Q3. What is the qualifying date? 1 October 2026.
Q4. How do I check if my name is on the roll? Search on voters.eci.gov.in, your state CEO website or the Voter Helpline app using your EPIC number or name.
Q5. My name is missing. What do I file? Form 6 for inclusion. Use Form 7 to object to an entry and Form 8 for corrections.
Q6. How many names were deleted in earlier phases? 47 lakh in Bihar in Phase 1 and 5.18 crore across 12 states and UTs in Phase 2.

Conclusion
If you live in one of the 19 Phase 3 states or union territories, spend five minutes checking the draft roll for your own name and for your family's. Given the scale of deletions in the earlier phases, that check, and a Form 6 if a name is missing, is what protects your vote.
