RRB Group D Result 2026: Current Status

The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) are preparing to declare the CBT result for RRB Group D (CEN 09/2025), the recruitment for 22,195 Level-1 posts in Indian Railways. The provisional answer key was released in the first week of September 2026 and the objection window has now closed, which means the result is the next official step.

Important: as of 19 September 2026, the result has NOT been declared. No RRB has issued a result-date notice. Reports suggest October 2026, but that is an expectation, not an announcement.

Answer Key and Objection Window

  • The provisional answer key and response sheet were released on 7 September 2026 (one source, Careers360, reported 8 September).
  • The objection window closed on 15 September 2026 at 5:00 PM (Careers360 reported 17 September).
  • The objection fee was ₹50 per question, refunded if the objection is accepted. The RRB's decision on objections is final.

After objections are examined, RRBs publish the final answer key and then the result.

When Will the Result Come?

No RRB has published a result date. Based on the usual gap between the close of objections and the result, most reports expect the result in October 2026. Some websites are quoting exact dates such as "21 October", these are guesses and should be ignored.

What is certain is the sequence:

  1. Final answer key after objection scrutiny
  2. CBT result and shortlisting for PET, published RRB-wise
  3. Cut-off marks published category-wise
  4. PET, then Document Verification, then Medical Examination

How Many Candidates Will Qualify?

As per the official CEN, shortlisting for the PET is done at three times the number of vacancies, community-wise, and this number can increase or decrease as per the Railway Administration's requirement.

Three times 22,195 works out to roughly 66,585 candidates expected to be called for the PET. This is a calculation based on the official ratio, not a figure announced by the RRBs.

Because the exam was held in many shifts, normalisation of marks is applied, so your normalised score, not your raw score, decides selection.

How to Check the RRB Group D Result

There are two separate things to check, and they work differently.

1. Zone-wise result PDF (list of roll numbers)

  1. Go to the website of your own RRB, the one you chose while applying (for example rrbcdg.gov.in, rrbbbs.gov.in, rrbsecunderabad.gov.in).
  2. Open the CEN 09/2025 (Level-1) section or the Notice Board.
  3. Click the result / "shortlisting for PET" link and open the PDF.
  4. Press Ctrl + F and search your roll number or registration number.

No login is needed. The result PDF is public.

2. Individual scorecard (your marks)

  1. Go to the RRB exam portal rrb.digialm.com, using the link posted on your regional RRB website.
  2. Log in with your Registration Number and Date of Birth (used as the password), and complete the captcha.
  3. Download and print your scorecard.

The scorecard normally shows your name, roll number, registration number, date of birth, category, section-wise marks, raw and normalised marks, the applicable cut-off, and whether you have qualified.

Minimum Qualifying Marks in the CBT

Category Minimum
UR 40%
EWS 40%
OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) 30%
SC 30%
ST 30%

A relaxation applies to PwBD candidates where there is a shortage of PwBD candidates. Remember that these are only qualifying marks. The actual cut-off for being called for the PET will be much higher, because lakhs of candidates are competing for a shortlist of roughly 66,000.

Cut-off marks for this cycle have not been published. Any "expected cut-off" table you see online is a guess. In the previous Level-1 cycle (RRC CEN 01/2019), cut-offs were published as percentile scores rather than raw marks, and the UR percentile crossed 96 in several zones. With 22,195 vacancies this time against 1.03 lakh in that cycle, competition is expected to be tougher.

Exam Pattern (for reference)

Subject Questions Marks
General Science 25 25
Mathematics 25 25
General Intelligence & Reasoning 30 30
General Awareness & Current Affairs 20 20
Total 100 100

Duration was 90 minutes (120 minutes for candidates eligible for a scribe), with 1/3 mark deducted for each wrong answer.

What Is the PET?

The Physical Efficiency Test is qualifying in nature, no marks from it are added to the merit list. The official standards are:

Male candidates

  • Lift and carry 35 kg for a distance of 100 metres in 2 minutes in one chance, without putting the weight down, and
  • Run 1000 metres in 4 minutes 15 seconds in one chance.

Female candidates

  • Lift and carry 20 kg for a distance of 100 metres in 2 minutes in one chance, without putting the weight down, and
  • Run 1000 metres in 5 minutes 40 seconds in one chance.

The PET date has not been announced. Candidates who clear it go to Document Verification (originals of matriculation / ITI / NAC certificates, caste or EWS certificate, PwBD certificate, and an NOC if already in service), followed by the Employment Medical Examination.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1. Has the RRB Group D result 2026 been declared? No. As of 19 September 2026 the result is not out. It is expected in October 2026, but no official date has been announced.

Q2. Where will the result be published? On the website of your own regional RRB, as a zone-wise PDF. Scorecards come on the rrb.digialm.com exam portal.

Q3. What do I need to check my scorecard? Your registration number and date of birth.

Q4. How many candidates will be called for the PET? About three times the vacancies, community-wise, which works out to roughly 66,585 candidates against 22,195 posts.

Q5. What is normalisation? Because the CBT was held in multiple shifts of different difficulty, marks are adjusted using a formula so candidates across shifts are compared fairly. Your normalised score decides your position.

Q6. Is the PET counted in the merit list? No. The PET is only qualifying. Merit is based on the CBT score.

Q7. What is the salary? Level 1 of the 7th CPC pay matrix, with an initial pay of ₹18,000 plus allowances.

Conclusion

RRB Group D (CEN 09/2025) is the largest railway recruitment currently in progress, with 22,195 vacancies and about 52 lakh applicants. With objections closed, the final answer key and the CBT result are the next steps, most likely in October 2026. Candidates should watch their own regional RRB website rather than relying on unofficial result dates, and start PET preparation now, because the gap between the result and the PET is usually short.
