UCEED 2027 Registration Open: Apply for B.Des Admission in IITs by 31 October 2026
IIT Bombay, on behalf of the UCEED-CEED Implementation Committee, is accepting online applications for the Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design (UCEED) 2027. UCEED scores are used for admission to the Bachelor of Design (B.Des.) programme at IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Indore, IIT Roorkee and IIITDM Jabalpur. Registration with regular fees opened on 1 October 2026 and closes on 31 October 2026. After that, candidates can still apply with a late fee until 6 November 2026 (5:00 pm). The exam will be held on Sunday, 17 January 2027.
Students from any stream (Science, Commerce or Arts and Humanities) who passed Class XII in 2026 or are appearing in 2027 can apply. OCI/PIO card holders whose cards were issued before 4 March 2021 pay the same fee as Indian nationals. The fee is neither refundable nor transferable, and bank or processing charges are extra.
Eligibility
- Age: Born on or after 1 October 2002 (OPEN, EWS, OBC-NCL) or on or after 1 October 1997 (SC, ST, PwD).
- Qualifying exam: Passed Class XII (or equivalent) in 2026, or appearing in 2027, in any stream. Candidates who first appeared in 2025 or earlier are generally not eligible (the brochure lists a narrow board-related exception).
- Attempts: A maximum of two attempts, in consecutive years.

The exam lasts three hours. Part-A (200 marks, 2 hours) is computer based. Part-B (100 marks, 1 hour) is subjective and evaluated manually. Shortlisting is done on the basis of Part-A marks.
Shortlisting and Rank List
- Part-A cut-off: delta = mean + (standard deviation / 2) for OPEN, 0.9 times for OBC-NCL/EWS and 0.5 times for SC/ST/PwD. The top 6,400 candidates are shortlisted (ties at the last position included).
- Part-B qualifying marks (out of 100): OPEN 15, OBC-NCL/EWS 13.5, SC/ST/PwD 7.5.
- Total score = Part-A + Part-B. Ties are broken by higher Part-B marks, then Part-A Section 2, then Part-A Section 1.
How to Apply for UCEED 2027
- Read the UCEED 2027 Information Brochure and confirm you meet all three eligibility criteria.
- Go to the candidate portal uceedapp.iitb.ac.in and register.
- Fill in your qualifying exam and category details correctly and choose three exam cities in order of preference.
- Upload a recent colour photograph and your signature (both in .jpg format).
- Upload documents in PDF: proof of age, Class XII certificate (or the principal's certificate as per Appendix 1 if appearing in 2027) and category/PwD certificates where applicable.
- If you need a scribe or compensatory time, select the option and upload the request letter (Appendix 11).
- Pay the fee online and submit the form before 31 October 2026 (or by 6 November 2026, 5:00 pm, with the late fee).
