RRB Section Controller Exam Date 2026 Out: CBT on 12 and 13 October, City Slip and Admit Card Timeline
RRB has announced the tentative CBT dates for Section Controller (CEN 03/2026). The exam will be held on 12 and 13 October 2026. Exam city link opens about 10 days before and e-call letters about 4 days before the exam. Aadhaar check is compulsory at the centre.

Railway Recruitment Boards have finally put out the exam schedule for the Section Controller post. If you applied under CEN 03/2026, mark your calendar. The Computer Based Test is tentatively fixed for 12 October 2026 and 13 October 2026.
The notice was issued on 11 September 2026 and is signed by the Chairpersons of the Railway Recruitment Boards. It is a short two page document, one page in English and one in Hindi, but it answers most of the questions candidates have been asking for weeks. Here is everything it says, in plain words.

Since the exam runs over two days, your date and shift will be assigned by the board. You will find that out through the exam city intimation link, not through this notice.
When will the exam city link open?
RRB will make the exam city and date viewing link live about 10 days before the exam. Going by the schedule, that puts it somewhere around the first week of October 2026. The link will appear on the official websites of all RRBs at the same time.
The same link is where SC and ST candidates can download their travel authority for free rail travel to the exam city. So if you belong to either category, do not skip this step.
Keep in mind that this window is tentative. The board uses that word for a reason, so check the official site every couple of days once October starts.
When will the admit card (e-call letter) be released?
The e-call letter download starts about 4 days before your exam date. For a 12 October exam that means roughly 8 October, and for 13 October roughly 9 October. Your exact date will already be visible on the city intimation link, so you will know which day to expect it.
The admit card will be available through the same candidate login on the RRB websites. Take a colour printout and carry it along with your original ID.
Aadhaar verification is compulsory this time
This is the part of the notice most people are going to gloss over, and it is the part that can actually stop you at the gate. RRB is doing Aadhaar linked biometric authentication at the exam centre before entry into the hall. Four things follow from that.
- Carry your original Aadhaar card or a printout of e-verified Aadhaar to the centre. A photocopy or a photo on your phone is not enough.
- If you have not already verified your Aadhaar in the RRB system, log in at rrbapply.gov.in with your credentials and complete the verification now. Do not leave it for exam week.
- Make sure your Aadhaar biometrics are unlocked in the UIDAI system. Many people lock their biometrics for safety and forget about it. A locked Aadhaar will fail authentication at the centre. Even candidates who verified Aadhaar during the application stage need to check this.
- Your Aadhaar details should be up to date: correct name, date of birth as per your Class 10 certificate, latest photograph, address and father's name. If your biometrics were never updated after you turned 15, get that done at an Aadhaar centre.
If your Aadhaar name and your application name differ even slightly (a missing middle name, a spelling change), fix it now. Aadhaar updates take time, and there are only a few weeks left.

A word of caution from RRB
The notice repeats two warnings that come with almost every RRB update, but they are worth stating again.
First, rely only on the official RRB websites for updates. Telegram forwards and WhatsApp screenshots are not a source. If something is not on rrb.indianrailways.gov.in or your regional RRB site, treat it as unconfirmed.
Second, beware of touts. Nobody can get you a railway job for money. Selection for Section Controller is based purely on the CBT and your merit. Anyone promising an appointment in exchange for payment is running a scam.
What you should do this week
You have about a month. Use it like this. Finish Aadhaar verification on rrbapply.gov.in if it is pending. Check your UIDAI biometric lock status and unlock if needed. Compare your Aadhaar details with your application form and correct any mismatch. Then get back to your preparation, because the syllabus for Section Controller is not small and the two exam days are fixed.
